On Oct. 31, the long-awaited Westbury Wolverines defeated yet another team! In a rematch against the Brooklyn Legendz, the Wolverines used the same established drive, energy and determination to win without allowing the competition to score.
One Wolverines’ running back scored a touchdown in the first quarter against Brooklyn with another one of Westbury’s running backs scoring a second touchdown in the third quarter by running 79 yards to bring the score to 12-0. A Wolverine quarterback made an 81-yard run in an attempt to score a third touchdown in the fourth quarter but a penalty was made and the play was called back but that didn’t stop the Wolverines.
Great blocking by the offensive players, phenomenal defense coverage and a fantastic interception made by Wolverines safety all brought the team to victory. The Wolverines, as of press time, were 6-0 due to an opponent’s forfeit of a Nov. 3 scheduled game.
The Wolverines Cheerleading and Dance squad stood along side of their teammates faithfully encouraging the players and their halftime performance, which featured a clear and concise routine, was outstanding.
The Westbury Wolverines, an American Youth Football (AYF)/Big Apple League Football team, are ready for playoff season. The team is revving up to compete in the National AYF Championship in Florida in December.
