Two Carle Place High School students were recently acknowledged for their outstanding achievements. Francesca Lim was named a Commended Student in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. She is one of the 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who are being recognized for exceptional academic promise demonstrated by performance on the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test .
Jesus Rivera has been named a 2013-2014 National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, identifying him as an outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school student. This year, the NHRP is recognizing approximately 5,300 Hispanic/Latino students selected from a pool of more than 259,000 who took the 2012 PSAT/NMSQT/PAA. Students recognized by the NHRP are at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino (based on the program’s definition) and have achieved a minimum PSAT/NMSQT score for their region. Students with a junior year cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, like Jesus, are designated as Scholars.
